A Good Laptop??

is this a good laptop? Dell Inspiron Notebook.

i've seen it on tv. I have a desktop but it is getting slow (too full and i have to defrag?) and i want something portable...basically I plan to use internet and Microsoft Word. Music and photo storage would be a plus but not necessary. there are so many add ons...which ones are necessary? can i buy used ones to save money? need brand new/ warranty? i am clueless here...any advice would be great!! thanks!!!

I would stay away from used ones and just get a cheap new one as it will last you a long time, have a warranty, and have more modern parts.

Having at least 1GB of memory is necessary (2GB preferred), and the hard drive space depends on how much you will store/download on it. If movies, at least 200GB.

I noticed these dells don't come with MSWord :(

Oh, and from my experience with my work laptop, get something that has a smaller screen and is lighter. My work laptop feels like I am carrying around a cinder block and the screen is so big it would make it unsuitable for carrying on a plane.

BTW, defragging your desktop will do wonders as well as getting rid of any unneeded resident programs (those little icons on the lower right hand of the screen). Message me if you need help!! :-D

I have a desktop and recently brought a laptop.

I brought it from Dell and I love it. I have the Dell Inspiron 1505. 17 inch. I payed less than $700. It has the windows Vistas and I have had No problems with it.

I used it mainly for internet, photos, the DVD player for when I travel.
You would be surprised about how many great laptops and desktops are selling for used...check these out....
