How to get rid of a virus that has a fake system tray icon, and fake system alert?microsoft sql server
This is a Smitfraud infection, usually not removed by most security software. So far, I know only two anti-spyware - Spyware Terminator and SpyBot - that completely remove any Smitfraud infection. Both are free. Download any one (or both) from the given link, update them and run a full system scan to get rid of the infection.

Try scanning with Spybot and Ad-Aware:

First and foremost, these are MY opinions and have experienced several machines that had these on them,
as well as users using these products. Not to mention that I have ran each and every one of these myself
so as to not confuse those that think that I have not.
My findings in these products are useless and sometimes scare the normal user.
Also, these products are not for the normal user as normal user do not take the time to read the
manuals/docs for what they download and or buy, they just want to install and use.
Stop using the following software:
-- AVG --
-Maybe free, but be aware that this product is not the normal product that you would put on a machine.
Most if not all of your experts will tell you to leave this alone, avoid it like the plaque
-- Ad Aware SE --
-Ad Aware is a dangerous program if you do not know how to set it up, although it comes with the basic
'normal' user settings, those that go messing about will find after changing the settings, will remove
things from the Windows System and then be stuck in a bad situation.
-- Spybot Search and Destroy --
-Same as Ad Aware Se
-- Ewido --
-Made By AVG NOW
(see above AVG)
-- McAfee --
-System Hog. Although this product is and has been around for decades, it still isn't that great of a
product as it eats up resources like a hungry dog.
-- Housecalls --
-Not a bad product, but installs while online and no option(s) to UNinstall it.
-- Trendmicro --
-Not a bad product, but installs while online and no option(s) to UNinstall it.
-- Panda --
-Not a bad product, but installs while online and no option(s) to UNinstall it.
-- Norton --
-System Hog.
-Also this product has to use it's own UNinstaller to get rid of it, even if you take it out of Add Remove
and reboot your system, this pain in the **** software prompts the user to reinstall or it auto does it
-- eTrust --
-Now owned by CA
-- Kaspersky --
-Maybe free, but be aware that this product is not the normal product that you would put on a machine.
Most if not all of your experts will tell you to leave this alone, avoid it like the plaque
Decent programs to install and use

Try using your anti virus or if it doesnt work u will have to reformat your computer.
Turn Off System Restore, then scan for viruses, take online scan from these trusted anti virus Kapersky, Norton, McAfee, TrendMicro. Just to make sure that one of them doesn't miss something
My opinion is you have to check your system if it is a dangerous virus and can damage you files. Install an antivirus, i'll advice you to install AVG, NORTON or MCAFE. Any of these three. Then start from the files that is has infected and clean it up using your antivirus. Start backuping after you have finished cleaning up your files.

How to use SmitFraudFix
http://www.geekstogo.com/forum/How-to-us...
*SmitFraudFix is a tool that S!Ri created to remove rogue anti-spyware applications that utilize Trojans to issue fake
taskbar security alerts or that change your background in order to scare you into purchasing the full commercial version of their software..
These infections are difficult to remove and are usually bundled with so much other malware,
that traditional antispyware or antivirus programs have difficult completely cleaning these infections.
Due to this a specialized tool was created in order to help a user clean their system of these infections.
Getting Help w/ Spyware

http://spywarewarrior.com/sww-help.htm
Me and a couple other people i know suffered the same problem. the easiest way how to take care of the problem without having to uninstall your current anti-virus, do some long process that will get rid of it through its code, or getting a new anti-virus that you will only use once is to do a system restore to the earliest time before it happened.
You may need to take the computer to a competent technician and have it repaired.
You can try these steps on your own.
Click on "Start"
Click on "Run"
type in "msconfig". DO NOT USE THE QUOTES
Press the ENTER key on the Keyboard
A box will pop up
Look for the tab along the top of the box that is labeled
"Startup"
Click on this tab and a box will become visible
In the lower right corner of this box, right above the "help"
button is a button called "Disable All".
Click on the "Disable All Button"
Click on the Boot.ini tab.
Select Safe mode and also select "network".
Click on the "Apply" Button
Click on the "OK" Button
When the computer asks to be allowed to reboot, tell it OK.
The computer will boot into safe mode but you will still be able
to get on the Internet.
Run Spybot and update it. Download all the updates and wait for
spybot to shut down and restart.
When spybot restarts and gives you the interface, click on the
immunize button to the left. If is tells you to immunize, click
on the green plus sign beside the word "immunize". After it
immunizes, click on the "Search %26amp; Destroy" button in the column
on the left. Next, click on the "check for problems" button and
start the scan.
When the scan finishes, choose the "Fix Selected Problems" and
wait for it to finish.
What this does is:
The scan cleans out a large amount of the common spyware, and is
a good first strike. Always scan in safe mode.
Immunize sets up Internet Explorer to block known spyware sites
from gaining access to your computer. Even if you go to a website
that wants to load spyware, your computer will refuse the
connection, helping to keep it clean.
Unlike some of the posts here say, Spybot gets along with all
antivirus software. Leave it on your system and run it once a
week. Be sure to immunize each time.
So much for a first strike, now on to the heavy hitters: Viruses.
Forget Norton and Mcafee, they are awful.
Go to this page, and fill it out, choose the product "eScan Anti
Virus (AV) for Windows"
http://www.mwti.com/feedback/form.asp?
Load this up (it will load in safe mode), update it, and scan the
computer. This program is free for a two week trial, and you can
uninstall it when you finish using it. Or buy it for $25, the
best computer money you will ever spend.
RUN THE E-SCAN OVER AND OVER UNTIL IT RUNS CLEAN 2 TIMES IN A
ROW.
After you finish go back and choose a normal boot
(Start%26gt;Run%26gt;type in "msconfig" without the quotes, go to Boot.ini.
tab and deselect "Safe Boot", then go to the startup and click
the "Enable all" button.
Let you computer reboot and have at it.
