a friend of mine bought kayaks through http://www.kayaknews.ca/, he paid off $700 through Western Union, but the seller said that his dad had an auto accident, he didnt have time to go down to bank and fly off to Nigeria. He said he needs to pay the doctor and wants my friend to redirect the money to his doctor:
Mr. Anthony Dabiri
10-10 Elepahant Hospital Building,
Victoria Garden City,
Lagos, Nigeria, 23401.
he even gave away his doctor's passport number A9101225.
can anyone verify for me if this place is real and it is indeed a hospital or something? coz i dont know how things go around @ NIgeria. please anyone experience tell me if this is a scam.
The 1st $700 was withdrawed couple days later but the seller says it wasn't him. The seller is still e-mailing with us. my friend hasn't get his kayaks yet. Please help my friend 'cause this is an internatinal transaction and advice if we can make a report to the police.
Help please!! regarding nigeria!!! money transfer!! and Scam!!?microsoft templates
Anything that has to do with Nigeria is a scam. Take it as an expensive lesson. It is known as a 411 scam and comes in many forms. Do a search on the 411 scam and you can literally spend hours learning about it.
Help please!! regarding nigeria!!! money transfer!! and Scam!!?windows firewall internet explorerIt's not 411 it's 419 and there's a lot more to Nigeria than that. Report It
Most definately not a 411. Americans also need to understand that it's greed that attracts them to needing to get all that money or whatever you want. Report It
how dumb are you ? oooops, i mean "your friend" ....
IT'S A SCAM !!!!!!!!!
I can't believe your "friend" fell for that.
Haha they dont have elephant hospitals in Nigeria. They cant even afford people hospitals there. Its a scam fo sho.
very very very old scam. Try SNOPES.com for more info on this and other scams.
Recovering the money is highly unlikely. I wonder how many millions this scam has earned these people.
Okay..this has been all over the news, internet, and newspapers. Your friend should know that if he ever has to Western Union any money, more than likey it's going to be a scam. Nigeria is the land of pathetic scammers, your "friend" needs to watch the news!!! His money is gone, he'll never recover it. The police can only do so much but to be honest with you, tell your friend to cut off all contact with these scammers. I highly doubt that the money will be returned. Sorry....
Your friend has been scammed and there is really nothing that can be done about it. The money transfer cannot be traced. This man has obviously taken the funds, but you cannot prove it was him or that it was a payment for a purchase. And now, they are attempting to get more money. Do not fall for it. Remember, the words "Nigeria" and "money transfer" always mean scam! The $700 is gone and cannot be recovered, don't give them anymore!!!
You have been scammed by one of the thousands of them coming out of Nigeria.
You can report it but you won't see the money or the kayaks.
Why in the world would you fall for this. Why would you order something like this and send money to someone you don't know, a store or seller you are not familiar with.
That's how they get the suckers....
You have learned a very valuable and expensive lesson.
Yep the best thing to do is consider the money lost and have your friend not send any more money. They should take this as an opertunity to learn not to pay in cash or anyform of payment that is the same as.
Stick with creditcards, checks, and my personal favorite Paypal who have a good system to help get your money back from the person and help resolve any disputes over transactions that have gone bad.
PS I've studied cons and get plenty of emails begging for help and promising lots of money if i transfer a small sum to them first. Ha if they were true I could have been a millionare a long time ago...
Your friend is being scammed. This is the oldest trick in the book its called 419. Tell him not to send any more money and to consider the $700.00 he just lost an investment in his personal education of Foreign Flim Flam Folly. God help him if they have his bank account #. If so he should probably close the account immediately, change banks, and alert the banking officials.
Nigeria is a wonderful country with the most beautiful woman in the world, matched only by the US. There are wonderful leaders of men, spiritual giants, athletes, and financial experts throughout that great land, and just like in the good ole US there are scam artist that can rob you blind. Please pray for them, for their salvation if you know Jesus, and ask for Gods peace that passes all understanding for your friend and to restore his stolen money 7 fold.
Call it a day. If you go to Nigeria you will never find him. Besides, plan ticket for a round-trip is probably $3,000 which is way more than you lost.
Hello Buddy,
If you receive a mail from any company claiming to be Nigerian, check the website http://www.trulynigerian.com to verify their claims, if they are not there ask them to refer to http://www.trulynigerian.com, which would verify their legitimacy and if they r true, would issue their website a seal of authenticity and also create a profile for them.
Kind regards
Ceejay
